I have added a new feature page, I will update it soon will more features when I have time.

Sorry for slow progress, I will begin working on this game again soon, but I can confirm that this project has not been given up on and will still become a great game.

Week 4 Meeting

Posted by LagunaX1 on February 17, 2010 at 6:50 PM Comments comments (0)

We had two seperate gatherings for this meeting, one on Sunday and one on Monday.

We covered alot of plot and history related issues and have made alot of progress in that area.

Progress on the menu system and battle system is coming along steadily.

For next week more progress shall be made on both by Alan and Tigurus. Jaar is working on the skits and cutscenes, while also working on the Arena mini game.

I, Laguna, shall continue to work on developing the plot and using ideas from all of us to type up more history as well as a step by step plot timeline for the Last Hope game to make developing easier.

EDIT: On another note the Last Hope History page has been locked so only team members can view it, to avoid spoilers, and Alan has also gone through corrected all errors I had made in my ahste while typing it up.

Thanks.

Site Updated

I have updated the 'Character page' and have also added the 'Last Hope History' page, this page will have a vague over view of the Last Hope history spanning right from the beginning thousands of years before the current game to the end centuries? after.

If possible, as we discuss the plots I shall add everything we decide onto this page turning it from a vague history into a detailed history.

I warn you though that this page is the biggest spoiler you could ever wish for. So only read if you hate surprises, it is intended mostly for team members.

Thank you.

This Week's Meeting & About Skits

Posted by Jaar on February 1, 2010 at 10:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Had a great meeting this week, and made lots of progress. Laguna shall continue working on the main plotline- along with trying his hand at the sprites, Alan shall continue chisseling away at the menu system, and I shall finish the Skit system, Campfire system, and main title screen.

Managed to narrow out Alan's character; getting down his personallity, history, and the reason he joins the party. We have also worked on several plot points. Also, by next week, we shall come up with several side quests, minigames, and other aspects we want to add.

So yeah. Great meeting, we got a lot done!

Anyway, from this week on, I am going to release a series of articles about different aspects of the game.

-----Skits-----

Today I am going to focus on Skits. Skits are simply conversations between the characters that take place at times during the story. They can be activated by pressing the "Shift" button when the "Skit Available!" box appears at the bottom of the screen.

The conversations that take place during skits are shown via static pictures of the characters. These statics facial expressions change, and the change poses occasionally depending on the situation. When a skit is activated, a background will appear behind your characters, and two cutscene bars appear at the top and bottom of the screen.

Skits are generally light-hearted conversations between the characters talking about life- like how you would talk between your friends. The topics can range anywhere from Jarren getting lectured by Elwind for writing in his journal, to Toad talking with Kiran and Ragithon about his favorite kinds of women (along with the latter two sitting quietly and shocked.)

However, they can range to being more serious depending on the circumstances, and some of them might even supply you with background story.

Skits are completely optional, and you do not have to watch them. Infact, you can completely ignore them if you like, and none of them will give any groundbreaking story information that will throw you off if you didn't see it.

(The character static's are not final. We will be making them ourselves completely custom ones
when that becomes a priority. Also, Jarren never says "Lol" ingame, so no one come yelling "Jaar! You're using
internet speak in the game?! I hate this game now! You are a complete and total n00b!)

The skit system is functioning, though there might be changes latter on, and it still needs to be completely tested.

'Tis all!

Sprite Progress

Posted by Jaar on January 25, 2010 at 6:58 PM Comments comments (0)

Alright. I've been working on the sprite style for awhile now, but I think I finally came to a conclusion on the battle sprites.

I've finished all of Elwind's basic poses such as item use, block, idle, attack, and etc, and most of them are animated. The style is easy to use, and It looks beautiful when animated right, so yeah.

I think it will work ^^.

'Tis all!

Site Officially Released!

Posted by Jaar on January 24, 2010 at 1:45 AM Comments comments (0)

About time, too! I know it isn't much, but it is enough for now. Expect this site to be updated countless times before this project is completed!

You can read up on the project by clicking the links to the left, though that should be obvious ^^.

I would like to thank Dracona Shade for helping me figure out the site; Without him we would still be stuck with the crappy book and empty void. (Don't ask ^^) So yeah, thumbs up to him! :D

Well, upon checking out the site, which is still fairly empty, please feel free to express your support by following us via email, or simply signing our guest book. We would be much obliged!

'Tis all,

Jaar
